Riverland's Music Ensemble "Frequency" was formed in the mid-1960s as "The Briars." Since that time, the group has specialized in performing popular styles of music. From folk to Broadway, from rock to madrigals (hey, they were pop hits back in the 1500s!), Frequency has done it all. Recent songs performed have included hits by Imagine Dragons, Green Day, Prince, Paramore, Queen, and Red Hot Chili Peppers.
In recent years, Frequency has become more student-driven, with students being much more involved in choosing music, planning and leading rehearsals, and creating their own arrangements as well as original music. With guidance and support from the instructor, students explore music in a new way. Some recent concert appearances include with Twin Cities-based band, Rogue Valley; KSMQ-TV's "An Austin Christmas" and "Holiday Harmonies" specials; "Carols and Cabaret" with Lindsey Williams; and "Home for the Holidays," a fundraiser for Austin Public Schools.
