This procedure ensures that all media interactions at Riverland Community College are handled professionally, consistently, and effectively to protect the college’s interests, and ensure accurate information dissemination.
PROCEDURAL STEPS:
- Direct All Media Inquiries to the Communications Department:
All media representatives should be referred to the Executive Director of Communications, Media Relations, and Marketing. Employees should not make statements or arrange interviews with the media without prior consultation with the Communications Department.
- Coordinating Media Access:
The Executive Director of Communications, Media Relations, and Marketing manages all media interactions to ensure they do not disrupt the college’s educational activities. Employees should politely inform media representatives that all interviews and information requests are coordinated through the Communications Department.
- Verification of Media Contacts:
If a media representative claims to have already contacted the Communications Department, note that the department will always inform you before using you as a source or sharing your directory information. Avoid any interviews until you have received this verification.
- Alternative Contact Procedures:
If you are unable to reach the Executive Director of Communications, Media Relations, and Marketing through regular channels, use the provided alternative contacts. Always leave a message citing “Media Request” and continue attempting to reach the designated contacts.
- Notify Communications of Media Referrals:
If you refer media to the Communications Department, promptly inform the department by phone or email, if possible, include the reporter’s name, subject of the inquiry, and the media outlet they represent. This helps the department manage media requests effectively.
