Join us as we celebrate Career and Technical Education (CTE) Month here at Riverland! CTE Month happens every February and is a great time to showcase some of our high-skill, high-wage, and in demand specialized programs including:

Agricultural Science
  • Earn a certificate in Agribusiness or Precision Agriculture or pursue Degree options in Agricultural Sciences that prepare you to go directly into the workplace or for transfer to a four-year university
  • Training facilities include the Center for Agriculture and Food Science Technology space, an Ag Science classroom and a collaboration farm near Lansing, MN
  • Prepare students to work in a variety of agricultural industries such as food, fiber, animal research and processing
  • Ag Science students are highly encouraged to complete internships during their degree completion. Students are able to receive college credit for internships.
  • Riverland’s program is the only club in the state combining Collegiate FFA with Post-Secondary Opportunities in Agriculture
  • Partnerships with a variety of area agricultural institutions to allow for easy transfer

Automotive Service
Diploma  |  Albert Lea Campus  |  Four Semesters
  • Diplomas available for both Automotive General Service Technician (2 semesters) and Automotive Service Technology (4 semesters)
  • Train in Riverland’s new state-of-the-art Transportation, Trade and Industrial Education Center on the Albert Lea campus
  • Program includes access to $5,000 in tools to use during training until individual purchases can be made
  • Uniforms are provided at no cost
  • Scholarships and financial aid available
  • Hands-on-training on a variety of vehicle models and includes newer technologies including electric/hybrid vehicles
  • ASE Education accredited
  • Strong ties to the local automotive industry
  • Highly skilled and experienced faculty team

Carpentry
Diploma  |  Austin Campus  |  Two Semesters
  • We're the only Minnesota college that offers a second year Commercial Carpentry diploma
  • Students that continue to the second year Commercial Carpentry diploma program obtain 1500 hours toward journeyman carpenter hours (more hours than any other MN State carpentry program)
  • As part of their hands-on training, the Riverland Carpentry program partners with the Austin HRA to build an off-site house
  • Students receive a free tool belt from partnering local companies
  • Riverland Foundation Scholarships and financial aid available
  • Knowledgeable, experienced instructors
  • Train in Riverland’s state-of-the-art DeWalt Tools-sponsored shop
  • Second year students attend the International Builder’s Show as part of the program

Diploma  |  Austin Campus  |  Three Semesters + One Summer
  • Train and practice in our state-of-the-art Salon on the Austin campus
  • Three semesters and one summer session let you finish the program in just 15 months
  • Training includes all aspects of hair, skin, and nail care
  • Scholarships and financial aid available
  • Experienced, licensed instructors
  • 17 to 1 student teacher ratio

Diesel Technology
Diploma  |  Albert Lea Campus  |  Four Semesters
  • Riverland’s program provides training on both commercial vehicles AND agricultural equipment, including tractors, planters, and harvest equipment
  • Train in Riverland’s new state-of-the-art Transportation, Trade, and Industrial Education Center on the Albert Lea campus
  • Taught by highly qualified and experienced instructors
  • Emphasis on real-world, hands-on-training
  • An Internship is included in the program
  • Accredited by the ASE Education Foundation

Certificate  |  Austin Campus  |  Two Semesters
  • Certificate in Food Science (2 semesters), Food Science Technology AS (4 semesters), and Food Science Concentration (4 semesters) are available
  • Learn to apply basic science to ensure that food is safe, nutritious, and enjoyable
  • Prepare for employment in the food industry in areas such as production, quality assurance, sanitation, research and development, and laboratory analysis
  • The Food Science Technology AS transfers to universities offering majors in food science
  • Train in a new state-of-the-art food science lab
  • Scholarships and financial aid available

Manufacturing
Diplomas & Certificates  |  Albert Lea Campus  |  Two and Four Semesters
  • Manufacturing students receive training in the maintenance and repair of industrial equipment including lathes, mills, drills and small tools used for machine repair
  • Welding classes incorporated in the four semester IMMR program include gas, ARC, tig and wirefeed
  • The IMMR programs also includes preparation for boiler exams
  • Welding and Machining Certificates can be earned in two semesters
  • The Manufacturing program training is hands-on and prepare you for high demand careers

Truck Driving
Certificate  |  Albert Lea Campus  |  16 Weeks
  • Start March 8 – still time to apply and be accepted – contact the Admissions Office today for more information and assistance
  • Picture yourself on the road in a big rig in just 16 weeks
  • First-rate, hands-on training
  • Develop skills and experience during paid internships with motor carriers who become prospective employers
  • Comprehensive program covers all varieties of CDL vehicles, including double trailer, commercial bus, and snow plow.
  • The Riverland truck driving program partners with a variety of companies who hire our graduates
  • High demand career – one of the fastest growing careers in the region
  • Scholarships and financial aid available
  • Train in Riverland’s new state-of-the-art Transportation, Trade and Industrial Education Center which includes a new truck driving range
