This course includes facials and facial massage, skin care, and make-up selection and application. Eyebrow arching, false eyelash application, lash extensions, and hair removal techniques are also studied. Safety, sanitation and infection control are an important focus of the course. This course is intended for esthetician and nail technology students. This course will meet preclinical requirements for licensure. Students will focus on the topics of chemistry, electricity, professional image, anatomy, infection control and Minnesota statutes and rules.
(3 Cr – 1 lect, 2 lab)

This course will prepare esthiology students for entry level salon work. Students will be introduced to salon reception and dispensary service work. Required testing is completed and satisfactorily completed quotas accumulate to meet quota requirements.
(2 Cr – 0 lect, 2 lab)

This practical application course includes specific client services. Under instructor supervision, students provide services including basic facials, makeup applications and waxing to mannequins, classmates, and clients. Salon safety, sanitation and infection control are stressed. Students experience salon reception and dispensary service work. Satisfactorily completed quotas accumulate to meet quota requirements.
(5 Cr – 0 lecture, 5 lab)

This course prepares students to take the general theory, state and written practical exams that are required for licensure. Topics include safety and infection control, client consultation and professional conduct, skin anatomy, skin disorders, facials, makeup, waxing, eyelash extensions and Minnesota statutes and rules.
(2 Cr – 0 lect, 2 lab)

This practical application course includes specific client services. Under instructor supervision, students provide services including basic facials, makeup applications, eyelash extensions and waxing to mannequins, classmates, and clients. Salon safety, sanitation and infection control are stressed. Students experience salon reception and dispensary service work. Satisfactorily completed quotas accumulate to meet quota requirements.

This course provides the students the opportunity to pass the practical skills testing necessary for esthetician licensure in Minnesota.
