This page provides important information about professional licensure for this program. Some careers require a license before you can work in the field. Requirements for licensure can vary by state and may change over time.

Riverland Community College has designed this program to meet licensure requirements in the state of Minnesota. If you plan to work in another state, you may need to meet additional requirements such as exams, background checks, or extra coursework.

We encourage you to review your state’s licensing requirements and contact the appropriate licensing board for the most current information before starting the program.

Successful completion of the Practical Nursing degree program at the Riverland Community College will meet the requirements for certification in Practical Nursing by Minnesota Board of Nursing. Certification by Minnesota Board of Nursing is required by Minnesota as well as by Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Florida, Iowa,  Kentucky,   Maryland, Minnesota, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia, Wisconsin states to acquire a state license to practice the profession of Practical Nursing  or for employment as a certified/licensed Practical Nurse. Riverland highly recommends that you contact the appropriate state licensing board in the state or locality in which you wish to practice or be employed.
