Concurrent Instructor
Liberal Arts & Sciences Courses:
- Masters Degree in-field OR Master’s Degree with 18 credits in-field
Career & Technical Courses:
- A mix of formal academic preparation and discipline-specific work experience in a technical field. Credentialing requirements are field specific and will vary. Please contact the college for CTE credentialing requirements.
Instructors interested in applying to teach in the PSEO/Concurrent program should discuss their interest with their high school principal.
Application Materials
Riverland will need the following:
- Letter of Intent - tell us why you would like to teach a college level course and which course(s) you are interested in teaching
- Resume
- College Transcripts: Graduate and Undergraduate

Approval
The college will review applicant’s materials and will make a recommendation to approve, approve provisionally, or deny the applicant. The applicant will receive correspondence indicating approval, provisional approval or denial from the college. Provisional approval will require a professional development plan to be monitored by the college and the high school administration for successful progress toward meeting full approval status. If satisfactory process is not made, then the college has the right to revoke the provisional status.
- The new concurrent teacher and administration will receive the approval letter
- The new concurrent teacher will receive an orientation
- A mentor will be assigned by the college and the master course outline will be sent to the new concurrent teacher
- The high school teacher will create a syllabus and indicate the textbook for the course
- The mentor will work with the new teacher on the syllabus and course expectations
- The mentor and concurrent teacher will establish regular communications and set a time for the mentor visit
- A new concurrent teacher will receive a minimum of two visits from the mentor: 1) as indicated in #5, and 2) the mentor visit in #6
- During the mentor visit the mentor and concurrent teacher will discuss course components to ensure the course is at college level and contains the same components as the on-campus course and the mentor will observe a class session. The mentor will complete a mentor report to be submitted to the Administrative Assistant to the Director of College Partnerships. This is a requirement for NACEP accreditation.
- The Administrative Assistance for the Director of College Partnerships will send an electronic student survey to be completed prior to the end of the semester to the concurrent teacher. It is the concurrent teachers responsibility to schedule a computer lab for the class to take the survey as a whole. Once it is complete, the concurrent enrollment instructor will contact the Administrative Assistance that it has been completed. This is a requirement for NACEP accreditation.
- The concurrent teacher will be expected to participate in all concurrent mentor/mentee workshops hosted by the college as well as other discipline specific professional development opportunities as determined with mentor.
