Course Placement Testing

Register for Course Placement and Advising

Course Placement Overview

Course placement helps determine if you're ready for college-level courses. Students must complete course placement evaluation before registering for classes.

How Course Placement is Determined

Riverland uses multiple measures for course placement:

  • High School GPA
  • Assessment Scores (e.g., Accuplacer, ACT, SAT, MCA, GED, CASAS, TABE 11/12)
  • Previous Coursework Completed

Required Items Before Advising & Registration

To register for classes, please make sure you’ve submitted the following required items to Riverland before your Advising & Registration appointment:

  1. Official Assessment Scores (Accuplacer, ACT, SAT, MCA, GED, CASAS, TABE 11/12)
  2. Official High School Transcript
  3. Official College Transcripts (if applicable)

Note: If you do not submit these items, you may not be able to register for classes.

Need to Take the Accuplacer?

If you do not have the required documents or want to improve your course placement level, you need to register to take the Accuplacer test.

Ability to Benefit (ATB) Testers

Do not register for a test date online.
Instead, contact the Assessment Coordinator at assessments@riverland.edu to schedule the Ability to Benefit test.
