Alonso Sierralta's sculptures are simultaneously fascinating and strange, creating a sense of both harmony and disharmony. A Chile immigrant at age 14, the artist channels his experience of cultural transplantation into powerful organic metaphors. According to the artist, "(t)he spreading of seeds, roots, pollen, etc. are the basic inspiration for the sculptural form, disparate materials are then selected to create the sense of tension and forced metamorphosis."

Dr. Adenuga Atewologun (Dr. Nuga), Riverland Community College's president, recently freceived the inaugural Distinguished Diversity Leadership Award. He was presented the award at the Minnesota State Academic and Student Affairs conference at Breezy Point in October.
The Board of Trustees of the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities has named Kathleen “Kat” Linaker to serve as president of Riverland Community College. Her appointment becomes effective July 1, 2023.
Jerry Girton, a theater educator and director with a wealth of experience at Riverland Community College (1989-2011), at Perpich Center and across the state, was honored with the Minnesota Educational Theater Association’s (META) Dedicated Lifetime Award at the Communication & Theater Association of Minnesota conference on September 18, 2021.
Riverland’s Truck and Commercial Bus Program was featured on SiriusXM’s Dave Nemo Show, highlighting its hands-on CDL training, industry partnerships, and career-focused approach. Program director Jonathan Rymer shared his trucking background and commitment to preparing skilled, confident drivers. Next class starts March 3.
