Doherty Staffing Solutions sponsored the Fourth Annual Doherty Scholarship Golf Classic to raise funds for Riverland Community College student scholarships.
The event included an 18-hole tournament in a four-person scramble format. A social hour, dinner with program and prizes followed the tournament.
Additional event sponsors included Viracon, Global Cash Card, SPX Corporation, Gopher Sport, Essential Staff Care, Plaza Morena, Loffler, Avionte, Hartle Farms, Assurance Group, Beth and John Fondell, and Orange Tree. Tee sponsors included TPS Insurance, Noble RV, Owatonna Granite and Monument, and Nick’s Pizza.
Overall winners of the tournament with a score of 58 included the team of Mike Noble, Pat Noble, Shawn Cameron and Court Fink. First place in the mixed category with a score of 60 was the team of Beth Fondell, John Fondell, Joel Goertz and Dave Schottler. Longest putt winners included Jeff Martell for men and Debbie Nowak for Women. Closest to the pin honors went to Gene Thomas for men and Corky Kolander for women. Longest drive winners included Jeff Hanson for men and Beth Fondell for women.
The 2010 Doherty Take a Break for Education raffle winners were Glenda Niemiec from St. Paul and Andy Harrigan from Waseca. Niemec won an all-inclusive trip for four to Cozemel, Mexico valued at $4,000. Harrigan won a weekend in Las Vegas for two valued at $1,000.

Doherty Staffing Solutions is a contract and temporary staffing firm that partners with clients to attract and retain a skilled workforce, allowing them to focus on their competencies. Proceeds from the tournament provide scholarships for Riverland Community College students who are residents of Steele County. Each year, more than 500 students graduate from Riverland Community College. Eighty percent of them stay in the area and 94 percent find jobs in various fields, including welding, machining, and forklift operations, contributing their talents to our community.
