Jen Ouellette-Schramm has accepted Riverland Community College's 2-year Interim Dean of Academic Affairs position. Jen has an extensive background in teaching, curriculum, assessment, equity-minded pedagogy, English as a Second Language, and has a passion for serving Riverland in this important role.
"I'm confident that her skills, experience, and commitment to teaching and learning excellence will serve us well," said Barb Embacher, vice president of academic and student affairs.
Jen has been faculty at Riverland since 2017, has served in a variety of college and statewide committees, and has been an advocate and leader in moving equity-minded teaching and learning practices forward to improve student success. Prior to her time at Riverland, she served as the Instructional Manager of 20 adult education teachers at the Minnesota Literacy Council, and has been an adjunct at Walden, Metro State, Hamline, the University of Freiburg, Germany, Hennepin Tech, and Saint Catherine University.
Jen will oversee the faculty who teach Math, English, Sciences, ESLA, Elementary Ed, and First-Year Experience. She will also manage a new enhanced Student Support Services (writing center, math center, tutoring) model to implement strategic supplemental instruction. In addition, Jen will continue our work with Adult Basic Education and the Bridges to Careers program development, and be the lead administrator working with The Hormel Foundation Austin Assurance Scholarship Program/Partnership.
