The Ohio State University has certified Riverland Community College employees Wanda Staska and Lori Jensen as Level III DACUM facilitators.

DACUM is an acronym for developing a curriculum. It is a one or two day storyboarding process that provides a picture of what the worker does in terms of duties, tasks, knowledge, skills, traits and in some cases the tools the worker uses. The information is presented in graphic chart form and can include information on critical and frequently performed tasks and the training needs of workers.

A DACUM workshop or individual job analysis can increase a business or organization’s efficiency, effectiveness and productivity; update human resources job descriptions; prepare for future openings and the hiring of new employees.

Jensen and Staska are facilitators qualified to conduct a one-day workshop that guides a group of employees through the DACUM process. Since receiving certification, the pair has conducted DACUMs for private business, community colleges and The Minnesota Transportation Center as well as assisted the Ohio State University with the Minnesota Board of Peace Officer Standards and Training for the state Law Enforcement curriculum.
