The James Wegner Art Gallery is currently presenting the paintings and drawings of David Strom. Strom is a southern Minnesota native and draws his inspiration from his surroundings. The show features selections from a twenty- five year span in the career of this prolific artist. Rich and layered color along with complex design relationships in his work recall film stills, comic book frames, or folk quilts. The show also features the artist's remarkable, dense pen and ink drawings which convey a variety of interpretations of common agricultural structures. Strom's creative exploration of subjects like grain bins and silos, wind mills, and the faces of his friends and neighbors help us to re-imagine and appreciate these familiar sights in a new way.
