Chun Lok Mah engages cutting edge technology in this multi- media, interactive installation. Born in Malaysia and long inclined toward both mathematics and art, his extensive work in computer systems helps provide a unique approach to contemplation of China’s sights, and by extension issues of national and personal identity. A visually and spatially dramatic transformation of the gallery space transports the audience to places inspired by Mah’s recent trip to China, where the viewer’s own shadow becomes an active component of the experience.
Chun Lok Mah is an Assistant Professor of Art at Winona State University. A strong believer in interdisciplinary art- making, his influences include Robert Irwin and James Turrell.
