Awards & Recognition
Honors
Honors recognition at Commencement is based on your cumulative GPA from your most recently completed term (typically the previous fall semester), as shown on your transcript.
You can view your GPA on your unofficial transcript in the eServices student portal under the Academic Records tab.
Important: Honors status for Commencement will not be adjusted, even if spring semester grades are posted before the ceremony.
High Distinction
Students with a cumulative GPA of 3.75 or higher will be recognized as High Distinction graduates and may wear a gold honors stole.
Distinction
Students with a cumulative GPA between 3.25 and 3.74 will be recognized as Distinction graduates and may wear a gold honors cord.
Final honors listed on your official transcript are calculated after all final grades are posted and all program requirements are complete. Honors status may change after Commencement.
Phi Theta Kappa
Phi Theta Kappa members are recognized in the graduation program. Students who qualify for Distinction or High Distinction may wear the appropriate honors items.
Members should confirm they are on the Bookstore roster during cap and gown measurements. Zeta Eta will cover the cost of the PTK tassel.
Stoles and cords purchased directly from Phi Theta Kappa may only be worn if the member meets Riverland's Distinction or High Distinction criteria.
