Riverland’s Public Safety programs prepare you for careers protecting and serving your community. Choose from two paths: law enforcement, or fire and emergency services. You’ll get hands-on training from instructors with real experience in the field.
Law enforcement
Train to become a peace officer or build a strong foundation in criminal justice. Riverland offers two degree options depending on your goals and where you plan to work.
The POST track. Includes Minnesota peace officer skills training and transfers with junior standing to a Minnesota State university. Choose this to work toward becoming a licensed Minnesota peace officer.
For students who don’t need Minnesota POST licensure, such as those planning to work outside Minnesota or continue their education first. Lower cost, no Minnesota skills training.
Fire and emergency
Hands-on firefighter training for a fast-paced career your community depends on.
Hands-on Firefighter I and II training that prepares you for Minnesota State certification. A high-demand path into city, suburban, and rural departments.
You’ll train in Firefighter I and II skills, live fire drills, search and rescue, ladders and hoses, SCBA use, and hazardous materials response.
