Electric Vehicle and Hybrid Technician Certificate

Electric and hybrid vehicles are becoming more common every year. Riverland’s Electric Vehicle and Hybrid Technician certificate prepares students with the skills needed to work on these advanced vehicles. You will learn how to safely diagnose, service, and maintain electric and hybrid systems used in today’s automotive industry.

This program supports students in the Automotive Service Technology diploma program as well as working technicians who want to expand their knowledge of electric vehicle technology.

Instructor permission or enrollment in the Automotive Service Technology diploma program is required.

What Are Electric and Hybrid Vehicles?

Electric vehicles (EVs) and hybrid vehicles use electric motors powered by high-voltage battery systems. Hybrid vehicles combine electric motors with traditional gasoline engines to improve fuel efficiency and reduce emissions.

These vehicles rely on advanced systems such as battery management systems, power electronics, sensors, and regenerative braking. Technicians must understand how these components work together to manage energy, maintain performance, and protect battery health.

As more manufacturers produce electric and hybrid vehicles, technicians with these specialized skills are becoming increasingly valuable in the automotive industry.

Why Earn an EV and Hybrid Technician Certificate?

  • Career Opportunities: The demand for technicians who understand high-voltage vehicle systems continues to grow as more electric and hybrid vehicles enter the market.
  • Expanded Skills: Learn how to work with electric drivetrains, battery systems, and hybrid technology used in modern vehicles.
  • Career Advancement: Specialized training can open the door to roles such as lead technician, shop specialist, or service manager.
  • Work With Emerging Technology: Electric and hybrid vehicles represent the future of transportation and offer exciting career opportunities for technicians.
